Day 9: Try A New Recipe
Daily Challenge:
You guessed it: Try a new recipe!
Although we're not sharks, I've found that most people get restless without some novelty and change in their lives. Not many people thrive on as much change as I do, but experimenting in the kitchen can be a great way to add some variety to our lives and our diet.
If we're feeling stagnant where we are, maybe it's time to find a new favorite recipe!
If you're looking for some inspiration, here are some of the top favorites from myrrhmade:
Do you have any favorite clean eating recipes to share?
Daily Mindset Mantra: To get new results, you have to try new things!
Particularly these days, it feels easy to get into a rut. I'm not walking through the produce section to see what's ripe and in season and I certainly am not sniffing things to see if they're at their peak. Yes, I sniff things. I'm one of those people
I'm ordering things, and usually mostly the same things.
Luckily, if you have a kitchen stocked with the basic ingredients, there are an astounding number of things you can cook from what you already have.
Most of the best food in the world is prepared lovingly from simple ingredients. When I found out about the Slow Food Movement in my mid-twenties, I was convinced. Good food made by someone's hands is so important.
Bonus task: See if you can find a recipe or new way of making something that doesn't involve buying anything new.
My experience:
One thing I've really missed over the past year and a quarter of eating clean is chocolate. There are a few options for naturally sweetened chocolate (which I've passed over due to high levels of sugars, even natural) and I even did some experimenting with making my own chocolate using whole dates for sweetener. When the desire really strikes me I'll have half a date (2 to 3 grams of sugar) and half a square of unsweetened baking chocolate and that usually does the trick without overloading my system with anything.
Then I started thinking about flourless chocolate cake.
I knew there must be a way and it turns out there is. I scoured several recipes and eventually found one and followed some of it. Sort of.
I made it the morning of the 7th and it was amazing!
It was so good, that I immediately typed up a post about it. Full details and recipe here:
("Paleo," Dairy-free option, naturally gluten-free, no refined or weird sweeteners, just whole real food)
I'll be making this one-bowl, quick and easy recipe again for sure. Possibly for my birthday, if not sooner.
What new recipe are you going to try today?
