February 25th - Revisit Your Vision - Myrrhmade Love Where You Are Challenge Day 25!

February 25th - Welcome to day 25 of the Myrrhmade Love Where You Are Challenge!

Come on in and join us!

Day 25: Revisit Your Vision

We all had dreams when we were growing up of what our lives would be like. We could cherry pick from our best experiences and our favorite places and make a mental collage of the best parts of everything.

Life happens, we make compromises, our lives expand in ways we never could have forseen. Some things happen way better than we could have predicted, and others fall short.

We find ourselves moving out of homes where, even years later, we never fixed the thing, painted the wall, or hung the picture.

It's easy to make plans, make lists, set goals, and dream of someday.

That someday will never be THIS day unless you actually put your plans into motion.

Knowing what to do doesn't make a difference if you don't do it. Intellectual understanding doesn't translate to results unless you take action

Daily Challenge: Revisit your vision and take action.

It's easy to feel overwhelmed out your list of somedays or when I have the time or the help or the whatever...

It's also very easy to find proof for why you're completely justified in being overwhelmed.

However, there are other more helpful ways to think.

Just like replacing "sorry" with "thank you," taking action on your vision for where you are can have a powerful impact on your experience right now.

There's a story (sometimes attributed to being Cherokee) about a grandfather teaching his grandson and he tells a story about how each of us has two wolves inside of ourselves fighting each other. One of the wolves is fighting for darkness and despair and the other is fighting for light and hope. The grandson asks which one will win to which the grandfather replies:

Whichever one you feed.

When you came into your current situation, what did you want to fix or update or shift? When you dreamed about your life now, how did you envision it?

How can you take action today to move closer to your vision for your life?

Daily Mindset Mantra:  "Do the best you can until you know better. Then, when you know better, do better." -Maya Angelou

At every step along the way you've made decisions based upon the information you had at the time. Later, once you knoew how things turn out, when you have more information, you may have looked back on your decisions and think you should have done differently. Knock it off!

You have done the best you could with what you had. At this moment you have what you have.

Now that you have more, you can do better.

Rather than looking to the past to regret that you weren't where you are now, you can look forward and be glad you're starting from here.

The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago. The second best time is now. - Chinese Proverb

Bonus task: Appreciate one of your quirks.

You get to like what you like, without external permission or approval. We're all grownups. It's time to stop "should"ing ourselves and give ourselves permission to like what we like and be who we are.

My experience:

Today, for the first day in months, I sat downto rest. I didn't numb through social media or self-medicate with entertainment consumption.

I made some art. I wrote in my journal. I breathed.

My vision of what life would be as a mom raising my kids looks nothing like my life has looked like for the past year.

I imagined more ease, more fun, more connection.

Today I played. Today I sat in the sun. Today I came excitedly when exhuberant voices yelled for me to come and see the crocus shoots peeking above the snow. Today I said yes.

Granted I also said no, wrecked the fun, put out the fires, and washed the dishes. It's one big messy life and it's mine. I get to decide what I will focus my attention and where I will keep score.

Today, I totally won.
