August Challenge - A painting a day

-

Since my  painting show last year, I've barely picked up my brushes.

Evening three

After receiving a gift of one of my paternal grandmother's watercolor paintings, I made a last minute decision to take the girls to a two week camp in Maine that has been a large part of my father's side of my family for generations. For many reasons, it has been five years since I've attended. The last time I went was when I was pregnant with C.

The girls are still quite young and even surrounded with support, flying solo is exhausting. Part of my recharge time, as well as mandatory self care, was the decision to treat the evenings alone in the cabin (with sleeping girls) as sort of a personal painting retreat.

I've set myself the goal of doing one painting per evening.

Not perfect, elaborate, or nearly as detailed as the paintings I usually do that take months or even years to complete.

Get paint on paper. Paint until I'm satisfied, or at least done enough.

 Do it again tomorrow.

  1. Love how you captured the texture of the water in that second one. Beautiful!

    1. Trying to get myself to move past whether or not I "know how" to do X and just paint. Also, completing (or ending) a painting per evening is having me move forward with each in a way I don't usually do.

  2. This is wonderfully awesome! I'd really like to see them if you're willing to show them to me.
