WIPWednesday - Inkle weaving April 26th, 2017

-

Creating is my passion, my sanity, my sense of being "up to something", my way of contributing a little bit. I always have a few projects going, many left to the side for months or even years before I pick up the best and carry on. Here's some of what I'm working on this week:

I was recently given an Inkle loom (for making straps, ribbons, laces, etc) by a dear friend.

I can very vividly recall a grade school class field trip to a shaker village and being fascinated by an inkle loom - one of the guides stayed with me long after everyone else had moved on, giving me a lesson.

I still have my peg loom from my childhood in the garage for "someday" with the girls. After re-teaching myself the basics of weaving on the strap below, I decided to update my sneakers with some pretty new laces (photo above).

I've received requests for a camera strap, and some little ones would very much like their own new shoelaces. :) Who knows what we will "need" next.

Outside we spent a little christmas money and bought ourselves some apple trees! We got them in the ground on Earth Day and are excited about continuing the tradition of these historic apples.

The crocuses are done and storing up nutrients for next years blooms and the tulips are about to burst!

We've put in a bunch of irises by the garage and finished spacing out daylillies along the drive. At the old house it took them a few years to get established and I can already imaging them filling in, year by year until they explode with their fireworks of blossoms.

What are you working on? What are you excited about attempting? What are you proud to be working on? Take a picture or two and share it with the rest of us by leaving your link or a few words in the comments.
