Introducing Tess

A lot of things have been unexpectedly missing from all of our lives over the past year. Last fall, after our twelve-year-old puppy finally admitted he was old then passed gracefully a week later, we had a particularly large vacancy to fill.

We learned so much from him that we were even more clear about what we would look for in our next pup. With our pretty strict criteria, we were prepared to wait until we found just the right dog for us, even if it took years.

And then there she was.

I'd inquired about a couple of rescue dogs that looked promising but received no response. Then suddenly there was a quick response, a phone interview, and a "by the way, she's being transported to your area in three days."

She is a rescue, young, female, will be under 50lbs as an adult, short-haired, good with kids, cats, and other dogs, as well as spayed and up to date on her shots, without special needs, and didn't have an adoption price equal to buying a dog from a reputable breeder.

In the phone interview with the woman who was fostering her, she was described as being by far the smallest of the litter but one of the biggest personalities.

She'll fit right in at our house.

HandsomeJoe put it brilliantly: she's enough like Jake to be a comfort and different enough so that it won't be weird.

We learned from our challenges with him that we'll be able to avoid those challenges with Tess. That means we'll have completely new challenges!

Here's to more love and happiness!

She approves of this post.
